With the introduction of the new Derwent 150 set of Chromaflow, there has been a lot of talk about the Chromaflow and comparing them to other popular pencils. Only a few days ago I created a post comparing the Derwent Chromaflow with the Derwent ColourSoft, which was a popular comparison, however; I think it is safe to assume that the most sought after comparison is that of the Prismacolor.
I have of course reviewed both the Derwent Chromaflow and Derwent ColourSoft separately; if you would like to check out the separate reviews simply click on the appropriate links. I would just like to warn you that the Derwent ColourSoft review was completed right at the beginning of my YouTube journey, reviewing art supplies, that is to say the review may not be as detailed as more recent reviews and if you watch my YouTube review of the ColourSoft, audio and visuals will most certainly lack quality.
Now we get to the exciting, yet bitter sweet part of the Derwent Chromaflow, if you cast you mind back to the beginning of this review I mentioned that part of the reason Derwent decided to create the Chromaflow was due to the love of the softer cored colored pencil, such as Prismacolor.
One of the questions I am asked the most, outside of review questions, is what supplies I personally use and if I could show people my supplies. So I have completed a more recent review of my desk and the supplies that I use when I get the time to sit down and draw something that I want to draw.
This year, 2019, Derwent released a new range of 12 metallic pencils. The set displayed the same colours, which I will explore further into the review, however, the pencil was completely reformatted, new ingredients, new external look to the pencil but more importantly, the pigments are most definitely metallic
The Derwent Artists pencils, were the pencils that really helped me make my mind up when it came to referencing pencils as wax or oil based pencils. The reason for me was really quite simple, when you mention that a pencil is wax based,
When completing each drawing I tried my best to use exactly the same colours from each set, however not all sets had the same colours, so I used the closest colors I could find.
The Derwent Lightfast pencil is a thing of beauty, the 8mm barrel is constructed of beautiful Maple, displaying in full glory the grain, given the pencil a very natural look. Inside the barrel is encased a stunning 4mm core, bursting at the seems with pigment.
I mentioned in the review that I would review the pens, not really thinking much of it, however I received quite a lot of messages asking to review them and I felt I had to add the review pretty quick so that it almost followed on from the Derwent Pencil Wrap review.
The Derwent Pencil Wrap is made from the same material as the Carry Bag. A sand colored canvas material, which has undergone many stress tests that I can produce without any effect whatsoever. This material has been used for its durable qualities, in fact, it reminds me very much of the old British Army 58 Pattern webbing which was incredibly strong.
Conragulations to the winner of the Derwent Procolour Giveaway, thank you so much for taking part in the giveaway and for all your support. Derwent have really struck gold with the Procolour and I feel these pencils are going to be such a massive hit among colored pencil artists, adult coloring book artists and colored pencil enthusiasts in general.
