In this comparison review we are looking at the Caran d’Ache Pablo against the Faber Castell Polychromos. I think the saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, really applies to art, after I completed this test I asked my wife and kids to select their favourite drawing and why they chose that particular one.
For this test I have used both black and toned tan paper, the black paper is Winsor & Newtons black paper and it is beautiful quality, a nice rich black and just the right amount of tooth to the paper. The Toned Tan paper is none other than the awesome Strathmore Toned Tan paper.
Both the Caran d'Ache luminance and Derwent Lightfast pencils compliment one an other beautifully, they each hold qualities that the other does not, making them the perfect couple. If I was asked by an artist that they could only get one set, which would I recommend, I think that choice would be as tough as asking me who I love more, my son or my daughter; well maybe not quite that tough, but you get what I mean.
