Botanical Colored Pencil Art Derwent ProColour

As I write this it is 00:57 and once again I am unable to sleep sue to pain, so I thought I would upload this art work and a speed video I made to accompany it. It is the 6th February 2018 and in a few months time, Derwent will be releasing yet another highly anticipated colored pencil called, "Derwent Lightfast"

Since the announcement of these new pencils from Derwent, there has been a lot of worry that Derwent are doing away with a pencil line in order to make way for the new range, I can tell you now with good authority that this is absolutely not the case. The new Derwent Lightfast are simply an addition to an already amazing range of pencils to fulfil any artists thirst for creativity.

With that being said, I decided to create a Botanical Art Piece using the Derwent ProColour as a way of reminding you guys that the ProColour will run along side the Derwent Lightfast pencils beautifully.

As always, when I complete a new art project I complete a speed drawing video of it on my YouTube channel, along with the speed drawing I also have supplied images of the various stages of my process. I hope you enjoy looking through the images.

I completed this drawing using only Derwent products with the exception of the paper. I used Derwent ProColor, Derwent Black & White range; this is a set of six pencils, three black and three white, for this piece I used the blacks as two of them have a hint of blue and hint of green, absolutely gorgeous pencils.

I completed the drawing using my favourite paper which is Strathmore 500 Series Bristol Plate. This is a smooth paper however the 100% cotton finish of the paper allows for the pigment of the Derwent ProColour to lay down and layer with ease.
